Leave it to Neiman Marcus, Fashion Island, to come up with a trendy name for its new shop within a store concept called CUSP, which features contemporary sportswear with a modern take (on the cusp, get it?), including shoes, jewelry and handbags. The launch was quite the party, with the store’s VP/GM Leyla Vokhshoori and PR Director Michaele Hall warmly greeting the 130 guests. Hall, who always orchestrates fun, creative parties, arranged for food truck fare to be served to the delighted guests. “We can’t have trucks in the store, so we brought it indoors,” Hall said, smiling. I must say, she and her team did their homework. The food truck stations offered Peruvian fare (quite the ticket for mobile kitchens these days!), creative hot dogs at the Dogtown Dogs station, yummy meatballs at The Meatball Man station, and at the Breakfast for Dinner with Chicken & Waffles station, the food was delish! You could finish up with two or three scrumptious ‘Lette Macaroons, if your heart so desired. Oops, I don’t want to forget to mention the party’s specialty summer cocktail, “Brooklyn Lemonade,” made with vodka, lemon syrup, muddled cucumber, and ginger beer. I drank two!

Celebrity DJ Savi kept the mood festive as he spun his party picks, with guests opting for having their nails painted in a creative style by Rosey Toes, having their photo snapped by a pro in the red carpet area, having a red lipstick color of their choosing analyzed by a lipstick reader (red lip colors are hot for fall), or having their hair blown dry by a professional from Fashion Island’s DryBar salon. And, if you were into fragrances, a whiff of a variety of upscale new scents was yours for the spritzing.

Believe it or not, there was even time for shopping! An opportunity drawing made two winners very happy, with an Alice + Olivia dress and Vince blouse the prizes.
