Talk about a party! Even with a smattering of rain at its outset, Riviera magazine’s 10th anniversary party didn’t miss a beat, thanks to the consummate planning of the luxury magazine’s publisher Chris Gialanella and editor-in-chief Tina Borgatta and their team. Held at The Strand at Headland’s spacious clubhouse in Dana Point, the 300 guests enjoyed champagne, wines and some tasty concoctions at the bar. Tommy Bahama’s Spicy Kumquat Margarita using Tres Sietes Tequila, voted “Best Summer Cocktail” in Riviera’s famous July restaurant issue, was just the ticket for me! The tray-passed hors d’oeuvres from 24 Carrots were a hit and the buffet of sweets, courtesy of Valley View Casino & Hotel in San Diego, did not disappoint. The milk chocolate tartes and pistachio cheesecake lollipops were scrumptious!
The good-looking crowd took the invitation’s “Fabulous” dress suggestion to heart and partied the night away. Vicki Gunvalson, a stalwart of Real Housewives of Orange County, was definitely in her element. Other standout fashions were presented courtesy of Saks Fifth Avenue at South Coast Plaza and were shown on professional male and female models as they meandered throughout the crowd and posed on platforms by the ocean-side pool. Saks’ VP/GM Todd Hoyles and Marketing Director Rachel Jackson-Smith deserved credit for keeping their cool on the on-again/off-again rain-splattered day. DJ Drew Pierce kept the pace lively with energy-driven music, and Betsy Thagard’s luscious B. Toffee was the perfect parting gift, as was the Riviera gift bag full of gift certificates along with its stunning premiere issue of Modern Luxury Brides California. Can’t wait for Riviera’s 11th Anniversary shindig!
